Crash Course in Antigone
Two brothers, Polynices and Eteocles, kill each other in battle during a civil war. Creon buries Eteocles and leaves Polynices out to rot.
Antigone, their sister, wants to bury Polynices. She asks her sister Ismene for help and Ismene refuses. Creon declares if Antigone does funeral rites for Polynices, she will be put to death. She does the funeral rites anyway and is buried alive in a cave, eventually dying by suicide.
(A lot of other things happen with gods and stuff, but this is the gist and all you really need to know for the game.)
